I visited a new quilt shop last week and picked up a few brights and Kaffes, luscious colours.
The instructions said to hand piece the last set in seams but I partial pieced the seam you can see below which made joining them a cinch.
This is the block 2, wild version. I think I might starch the fabrics for the mild block to make all those bias edges behave.
Block 1 and 2, wild.
OK, this block was looooong in the making, things weren't fitting. Never mind, we have the fudge factor and darn it, I was going to make it fit. I managed to get it all pinned up when I noticed spare parts, you know like putting furniture together and finding extra screws at the end.

This type of colour and fabric scheme is right out of my comfort zone but I did want to work with them as a way of learning how these fabrics look together.

Impressive work. Neither block looks simple, and both are lovely.
I've been reading other's comments on block #2 as they have been trying to put them together and I think everyone is feeling challenged! They sure will look stunning once all the blocks are side by side.

Glad you have joined the BOM, Janet - I didn't know that! I have just finished Take 2 of Block 2 - wasn't at all happy with first attempt - this one looks better!

Okay, you've made up my mind for me. I'm going to have to make a bright set as well as my "pretty" set of blocks. I think your blocks all look perfect!
It's strange that you're ready for brights because of Spring and I'm ready for dark warm colors because of Fall...lol
I just got my kit and can't wait to cut into it. I am also going to make a second one as well. You are definitely inspiring me!! They look terrific.
Look at all of the terrific colors in your post, Janet! Thanks for the eye candy! You have some of my FAVORITES-- like pastel Roman Glass. And I'm a huge fan of the grey coleus. LOVE your practice BOM block too. Oh, how much fun! Your DD's letters are also fantastic!

Love your BOM's...I tend to lean towards the wild block colors, but they are fabulous...block 1 looks VERY intimidating though!
Had to laugh at your "spare parts". The block is very challenging. I must admit that I would not have chosen those fabrics but they work so well in the block. Teaches us not to be afraid to try new things in our quilting.
