At last I have
a taa-daah moment to share. I finally finished the hand quilting on this reproduction style crib quilt I first posted about
here. I don't do a lot of hand quilting in the summer months but this was picked up from time to time. I always like to have a hand quilted project at the ready.
My favourite part was doing the quilting inside the leaves, I love the effect, but I'll think twice about doing double lines again for the background.
The quilt measures 38.5" square and has 100% cotton batting.
So now that the weather is colder at night, I can go back to
this old thing again. Yes I'm talking about the DWR. These corner blocks are a bit of a bear to quilt.
I did do my nine patches for
Christine's nine patch swap so that got crossed off the list.
And really do I need yet another pincushion? No, but I made one anyway. This has silica sand in it so it can sit on the arm of my chair without getting knocked off as it's so weighty.
There's a softie on my list for this coming week, some more hand quilting and blocks to piece. I think I can handle that!

Ditto what Anne said! I LOVE that red and green quilt. It's absolutely gorgeous. I've never used white (it is white, isn't it?) for the background but I think I'm going to have to on the next one. I LOVE that! I've never done double rows of quilting because I'm not that ambitious but - gorgeous.

I too LOVE your ta-dah moment project. Gorgeous as is "that old thing". I love hand quilted projects, just not doing them myself. Great pincushion.
Your hand quilting is impeccable! I just love how it turned out. You should be proud. You never can have too many pincushions.
OMG! Fantastic quilt! And the hand quilting is very lovely.
Silica sand? - please tell me about it - lots of sand on the beach 10 minute walk away, remember I'm in WA 'Wait Awhile'! Oh, what divine works, Janet - the world is your oyster!
Hugs - Lurline♥
Another gorgeous quilt! You are amazing. And I love the sand in the pincushion idea. I need one of those.
OH MY GOODNESS that is more than a tada moment. That is beautiful. I'm sooo impressed. You did a great job on that quilt.
Love that pincushion too. Cant have too many in my opinion.
That crib quilt is incredible!!
I love the crib quilt. Your work is absolutely amazing! The double wedding ring is just as beautiful, but the crib quilt just makes me happy.
Now that quilt caught my eye real quick!! Gorgeous! Give yourself a big pat on the back as it is wonderful.
My pin cushion is giving out. It has sand. I'll look for silica sand...I too like mine to be weighted. Do I make a separate muslin lining or something for the sand?
OMGosh I just love your DWR!!! It's going to be so stunning!! I can't imagine doing the double line quilting, I get really bored doing a half in grid on my Baltimore LOL.
Crispy
My very favorite quilts are the red and green ones...yours is spectacular! And the double line quilting? I hear you but, it is lovely.
WOW that quilt is stunning!!! You must be so proud!! Thank you so much for de-lurking and for your congrats on the book! Your blog is delightful and I love your Toffee Apple and Sherbet bags below - too cute!!
Oh, Janet! What do you mean by,"Do I need another pincushion?" You and NEVER have too many pincushions! (wink)
Most of my antique quilts have a double row of quilting. I've never tried it and can I ask why you wouldn't do it again?
Both the quilts are absolutely stunning. What a beautiful way to start my day seeing such lovely work!
Oh my I am speachless. Your work is awsome. I am not a hand quilter or an applique person but I so wish at time I was. I do a little of it but very little.
I do love your header quilt with the rabbit did you make that one and would love to know the pattern, it is spectacular.
looks great! Many times I do not want to quilt in leaves, etc. but I sometimes do dpending on the size of the applique piece. I do not have anything to hand quilt and am missing it. If you do not mind can you tell me what background fabric you used for the first quilt? As always thank you for the inspiration.
What a lovely crib quilt. The more I see red and green quilts the more I love them. Sweet pincushion and the DWR quilt is a beauty!
Your crib quilt is wonderful!!! The quilting is fabulous!! What a beautiful quilt!
I love your pincushion too.
You know I love everything you do. Just beautiful!!!
Congratulations on a beautiful finish! That crib quilt is absolutely gorgeous!
Hi Janet
Your work is beautiful! Enjoy your day.
Hugs, Rhondi
All I can say is wow....I just adore that crib quilt, the first one...as well as the rest...
OMG-What an outstanding quilt! Your workmanship is amazing. And those double quilting lines really made it! Anyone's crib, lap or wall would be well-decorated with this one. I love the fabrics you've chosen for your princess feather blocks and am anxious to try the silica gel for my next pincushion.
