And my sewing cabinet is also very cluttered. Note more stash in the bins on the far right!
The shot of my table after the great tidy up. On the left, there is a cloth covering a light table which was built in with fluorescent lights underneath. I do all my drawing and cutting on this table.
At the end you can see my design wall which is also a bit messy because I put a flannelette sheet over a top in progress so I could use it for the pink and green wip. There is a bedroom next door with large cupboards and believe me, they have a lot of fabric in them too.
I have a double bookshelf in one corner that has my books in one half and stereo, photocopier and other bits and pieces in the other half.
I haven't had time to tidy the fabrics in my main cupboard but that's for another day and I can have a cull then too. There are two large drawers on the bottom where I store patterns. See the doors bulging, lol. So now you've had a mini tour of where I get to play. It's not flash but I love that I have my own space.
Apart from the clean up, I even managed to go shopping today and found these feed sack style fabrics for a bargain, I didn't get all of them in the range but it's a good excuse to go back.
Post edit, go on over and visit another Janet to see her gorgeous hexagon quilt she's made using my header quilt for inspiration. It's a beauty using Japanese fabrics.
Love your sewingroom.... great table with the built in light table... super!!! And fabrics everywhere.. guess I could feel very comfortable in there!!!! :o)))
ReplyDeleteLove the quilt you are working on.. could be a future project to work on.. and love your crocheted ( is this spelled right) flower!!! :o)))
Sorry you had to remind me to have a clean up in the sewing room!!!lol
When the creative juices are flowing it can get a bit messy but your results are so gorgeous. It is nice starting with a clean slate though LOL.
ReplyDeleteLove your sewing machine cover, very pretty.

ReplyDeleteI can't believe it but I have spent my day in my sewing room as it was worse than yours, I certainly would not have been game for a pic , it is still not how I want it but I am doing a lot of culling.
Have enjoyed our computer chats today in between sorting and tidying. DH has been and bought me some tidy bins, I used to use the deep plastic ones but his idea to get the flat under bed type boxes, they are great for fabric as you dont have fabric buried.
I think your fabric stash looks great.
When I saw your first picture, I was alarmed -- I thought someone had posted a picture of MY sewing room! It looks a lot like that right now!
ReplyDeleteI don't have a "flashy" sewing room, either. I've thought about a makeover for the room -- fresh paint, curtains, cabinets -- but then I'd have to move all that stuff somewhere! The thought of doing that is overwhelming.
I love tours of sewing rooms, messy or not. It shows your creative side. And I can see you love 'pink'. I love your header quilt. I went over to the other Janet's site, and she mentioned the pattern is no longer available? I would love to make one, because it's absolutely beautiful.

ReplyDeleteLooks like you have a wonderful sewing room. But oh, that fabric! Mine looked like that and it took me forever to get it all folded and organized. Yours looks beautiful in all its splendor!
