I've been wanting to have a go at making this notebook cover from
Bloom's tutorial. I started with the same as hers so I could understand measurements for others I want to make. The only adjustment I had to make was to turn in the ends by more to fit better. I did a
don't look now butterfly on the back.
There's a bit of sewing room tag going around at the moment and I've shown you mine. Here's my sewing corner in the lounge, otherwise known as the sewing nest. I park myself here to do all my hand sewing and quilting. I haven't dressed up the spot for a mag shoot, I'm keeping it real.
In the corner of the room is my quilt rack that a friend's DH made for me.
There's no danger of quilts fading because we had a
special film placed over the windows in the french doors to block out UV and harmful rays.
That looks like the perfect sewing corner.
ReplyDeleteYour sewing corner looks nice and cozy. Great light too. I had to laugh when you said that you didn't dress up the spot for the shoot. Thanks for keeping it real :-)

ReplyDeleteOh, you hand quilt. How wonderful. Not many do these days, they are in too much of a hurry.
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of a sewing nest. I think I may have to call my space a sewing cave! (Time to get out the thesaurus)
ReplyDeleteYour sewing corner looks lovely and cosy...
ReplyDeleteWe all need to have a little space we can call our own!
The quilts look lovely hanging on the rack..

Janet love the journal cover. I have always wondered how to make one.
ReplyDeletePretty notebook! Lovely quilts. What is the one hiding behind the gorgeous applique quilt?
ReplyDeleteI have the film on my windows and oh dear...I have a partially faded quilt. It wasn't even in direct view of the window. Had to completely move my quilt ladder.
Wonderful notebook! I love your little sewing area. Very cozy. What is the film that you used on your window and where do you get it?
ReplyDeleteAnd now we need a better view of that quilt on the wall next to your sewing nest, please. And thank you. :-) You have a very lovely spot! And I've been trying to think of end of school year teacher gifts, may have to make some pretty journal covers!
ReplyDeleteVery nice nest....much neater than mine! I like the notebook cover and the quilts on the rack are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteGood one - my 'studio?' has wonderful daylight - please tell me about the film to put on the windows - Missy Perkins had her first day out today!
ReplyDeleteHugs - Lurline♥
I would like to see more of the quilt on the front of your quilt rack. Is it already on your blog somewhere?
ReplyDeleteNow that is a nice corner to sit and sew in. I do a lot of my handwork during daylight when the light is perfect for sewing.
ReplyDeleteWe need to see those quilts on the rack and the one on the wall!
Your notebook cover is darling! very stylish and chic.... love it, love it. :-)
ReplyDeleteWow that quilt on your quilt rack is gorgeous!! I like your little sewing corner and also your notebook cover. Is the linen easy to work with?
ReplyDeleteI made a journal cover for my mom for her birthday using the Bloom tutorial. I used a composition notebook instead of the size you both used. I found it easy to adapt. I love your butterfly; I hadn't thought to put something on the back. Yours is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI love your sewing nest! I wish I had a place near a big window to sit and stitch. Your quilts on the rack are beautiful! Enjoy your day! :0)
ReplyDeleteYour notebook cover looks lovey Janet!!! The aqua and linen work well together!
ReplyDeleteNice nest! Did you ever show those quilts on your rack somewhere on your blog? They look yummy and I'd like to see them unfolded, please. :-)
