Time is a thief

I've been so busy that my blogging has been falling by the wayside and June has been a blur.
What a neglectful blogger and just when I have more time, dh and I get sick. Bring on the drugs, they can make me feel almost normal.
Enough of the whinging, I did tease a bit last time with the block of the month  I got from the quilt show and a couple of smart people guessed correctly. It's the Jane Pizar quilt ( the Marriage Quilt) from Carolyn's Quilt Room. Carolyn does the most amazing and authentic looking reproduction quilts. These blocks are 7" finished and hand pieced. These are challenging for me but do-able and I'm happy to say I think I'm over over the fear of hand piecing. The more I do, the better I get.
My other reproduction quilt is growing. I have just finished panel #7 out of thirteen which takes me over the half way point. The sun is shining today so I took it outside for the photos.

And yet another reproduction quilt is moving along at a snail's pace with the quilting. I decided on a grid for the center of the wreaths in my Coxcomb quilt. It contrasts nicely with the straight lines for the rest of the background quilting. This is the back which I'm showing first because.........
The front looks like a dog's breakfast with all the pen marks. I started off by marking the grid with one inch lines, divided those for half inch lines but that looked way too big. You guesed it, I went for quarter inch grid which was far too small. Well it stands to reason that 3/8th's was going to be just right so it's been marked to death in rainbow colours and looks a mess. Fear not, it all washes out in the end.
Apart from the bom I bought at the show, I was quite restrained and only bought a few fat quarters. I was trying to get some fabrics like Jean from Linen and Raspberry uses in her fabulous hexies. These got the Jean stamp of approval and she was kind enough to send  me a few of her hexies in the mail. I'm yearning to play with some fussy cut hexies now.
Until next time, Janet

Hope you are both feeling better soon! That bunny is hilarious!

Loooove those circles! Is there a separate quilt pattern of the Marriage quilt or is it only a BOM?

All of your projects look beautiful. You are so good at giving each one some time to keep the progress moving forward. The new circle blocks are great, but they do look difficult. Hope you and your hubby feel better!

Yes, I completely agree with you that the month of June just flew by. I have no idea where it went. But you still manages to make quite a bit of progress with your projects. I too love the wedding quilt. A friend of mine recently emailed me (all exited I might add)after she went to the Sydney quilt show where she met Carolyn Konig. She told me about her website and I've been drooling ever since. Are you doing it as a BOM? Your first two blocks look amazing. I hope you and hubby feel better soon.

You work on such amazingly detailed quilts, that it might seem that your progress is slow, but we stand in awe of your work. I hope you are feeling better soon. (cute picture)

I'm hand quilting right now and I've done 3/4" lines and they do seem quite big. Oh well, Yours is beautiful. Did you see another Susan McCord quilt has surfaced? Barbara Brackman blogged about it. Your hand piecing blocks are lovely, going to look at your links. Take care of yourself.

Hi there! I have been quietly admiring your vines quilt as you display each panel. It looks absolutely gorgeous! Now, I am blown away, again, by your new project! You do such beautiful work. I've been to Carolyn's Quilting Room and saw that she is selling this as a BOM. However, I live in the US, so that would get crazily expensive for me! I wonder if, after she's finished working this BOM herself, will she be publishing a book? I can't wait to watch how the quilt develops as you work your way through each block. Thank you for all the eye candy! (I couldn't find how to comment on her blog entry of the wedding quilt, which is why I'm asking you. I guess I'm a tad computer illiterate!!)

Hope you both feel better. June did whiz by so quickly--I know I was busy doing everything but quilting!! The quilting on your applique looks gorgeous. Sometimes it takes awhile to figure the grid, would be too easy to make it an even number!! The hand pieced circles are delightful. Of course the vine quilt just gets better and better with each panel. Thanks for the eye candy!! Judy

Your circle hand pieced blocks are great! Your Coxcomb quilt is just beautiful. You are one busy lady. Sorry you were sick. I know the feeling about not blogging for a while. I'm in the same boat, but I haven't made great strides on my projects like you. You make me feel like a slacker! Love to see your work.

That sad little bunny really tells the story. I was wondering which BOM you chose. I was trying to guess as I was walking through the shops at the show. I love the one you chose. Those circle blocks are wonderful. Your vine quilt is amazing and your quilting is such a sight to behold. I have to say I'm impressed at how much you accomplish!!! I can just imagine the amazing hexies you'll be showing us in your next post!
