Gratitude

I'm happy to report that I'm almost mended from the burns I received in that scary fire. I can't tell you how grateful I am for the messages, private emails and prayers you all sent me for my quick recovery. I read every single one and was very moved by your kind words. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Well it's been an uncomfortable ride but I've healed fast. The little parts of my face weren't affected too badly and have healed completely. I just have a section on my arm that's giving me a bit of gripe and I still have to wear a tube bandage on it but every day it looks better and better and there'll be no scars thankfully.

I wanted to tell you about a couple of things. You might recognise Kim McLean's Pandemonium quilt as seen over at Glorious Applique. I love it, it's outrageously glorious in every way. There's just the perfect mix of piecing and applique. Click on the photos for a closer view.
Ready for some close ups? The horse yard.
The folly
The kitchen garden.
All photos courtesy of Kim McLean.
Kim has generously offered to do some online classes over at Glorious applique specifically for this quilt. It would be great to get some idea of who would like to be involved. Some may not want the whole quilt and it suits being broken down into sections or changed in terms of setting which Kim encourages with her patterns.
The pattern is available at Glorious Color

Blogger interface
I bet we all got a shake up at the change in the blogger interface, I was so comfortable with the old one. The good news is that despite blogger saying the old interface wouldn't be available, they must have heard the frustration out there because there is a way to get it back.
See the cog on the right hand side of your dashboard?  Click on it and it will bring a drop down menu.
click on the list and it will give the option of returning to the old interface. Hooray!

Til next time, Janet

OMG, Janet... I just went back and read the post! I am so sorry to hear that this happened to you!! But I am so glad that you are healing. What a scary thing! Big Hugs!

You've been on my mind and I'm happy to hear that you are on the mend. I love the look of the pandemonium quilt and I "might" be interested in taking part in an online class, although I know that I won't be able to make the whole quilt (too many other projects).
BTW; I switched to the new Blogger interface a couple of weeks ago (I thought I better jump before I'm pushed) and although I hat to get used to it at first, I quite like it now.

I'm really, really glad to hear that you're healing and soon will be good as new. Prayers answered. :-)

Wow, that's an amazing pattern - right up your alley, Janet. ;-)

Glad to hear your healing is going well and there will be no scars!
The Pandemonium pattern is in the post on its way to me....so I could be interested in online classes.

I am still with the old blogger interface. I tried switching the new one and thought I had lost my whole blog! A scarey experience!! Luckily all was fine, but I am reluctant to change...till I have no choice! Lol

I am glad to hear that your burns are healing well - I have been wondering how you were doing.
Beautiful quilt!
I have been using the new Blogger interface for a while and find it very easy - like anything, it just takes a while to get used to it. My favourite part is the new dashboard - much better than the old one (plus it works on the iPad).
Take care!❤

So glad to have you back Janet. You've been in my thoughts and it is nice to hear that the healing is coming along so well.

Just caught up on your accident. Who would have thought that would happen?!So very scary. Glad you are on the mend.

Thank you for telling us how to get the old Blogger back. Sigh of relief!

Glad to hear you are healing. Thanks for the tip on the old interface. I just tried it and it worked!

Glad that you're doing better.

Regarding the new blogger interface, I started using it earlier, stopped because I didn't like it (although I think that was because it wasn't functioning well), went back to it, and now that I've used it for a while, I actually prefer the newer one. I think it just takes a while to get used to it, and how quickly that happens depends on how challenged we are by the things happening in all the other parts of our lives.

Janet, I'm so glad you are healing well. And I'm so glad you will not have any scars to show for it, too. Yay!

I am so in love with this Pandemonium quilt....and that name is perfect for it, isn't it!?! Thanks for the close up pics.....I was really studying them, and this is really an amazing pattern. I know I could never do this kind of applique (well, not now, anyway), but the piecing is really fun, and I am loving so many of the blocks. What an explosion of color....FUN!

And you called this post Gratitude, and can I just say how grateful I am that you told us about how to get back to 'old' blogger! THANK YOU! I was feeling really lost with the new version.....I don't like change when I'm am totally happy with something. Now I'm back to the old 'friendlier' version! THANKS!

It's good to hear your almost healed and thanks for telling us how to get our Blogger back. I wonder how many will change.

Such good news that you are healing well and so quickly! I have shared your story with some of my other quilting friends as a cautionary tale...how many times we start to clean something in the home never thinking about how products interact.

That quilt is very intense!!! The gardener part of me is fascinated by the Kitchen Garden section in particular. But I am so overwhelmed with other ongoing and yet to be projects - it will be fun to sit back and watch others progress:o)

Continue to be well and heal quickly.

I'm happy to hear you are healing well--and I hope the remaining parts shape up and heal well too! I switched back to the old blogger also, but occasionally the new one tries to make a return. Regarding Pandemonium, put me in the undecided category. I would love to do it, but know that I would not do the whole thing and clearly haven't finished the other ones I've started. Most likely I will follow along and then start too, but I'm trying to stay strong and resist--for now! It is very nice of Kim to offer help--I would need it!

Marjorie said...

Oh yeah...that reminds me that I forgot to tell my husband that your tale is my current reason for not being enthusiastic about cleaning. Hmmm. Not convincing enough? Anyway, I'm so very, very, very glad to hear things are progressing well for you. Wishing you continued progress and sending tons of hugs.

You've been on my mind the last few days. There were so many posts I thought I would wait before sending my wishes for a speedy recovery. So glad to hear you are healing and should not have lingering issues. Wow, what a quilt, amazing! Take care of yourself.

Janet thanks for sharing the tip how to put it back to normal. l know in time we would get used to it, just felt so much more comfortable knowing what l was doing. l had written a huge long post with over 35 photos, and it all just disappeared. Blogger was not saving it as normal and all that was left was the heading. Super frustrating. Hope that never happens again.
Glad to hear you are well on the road to recovery. Can't keep a good quilter down.

Really happy to hear you are healing up from the burns. You have been in my thoughts and prayers!! I am so glad your husband was close by--and that you got quick first aid. Love the new quilt--many brights to add to the lovely applique figures.

Good to hear you are healing, Janet. And spending the time wisely - planning more quilts and quilting!
Wishing you speedy recovery.

Hey Janet, thank goodness you're ok! I just wish you had received my giveaway prize to help cheer you up! It is coming... soon I hope. I have been really busy at work and unable to get to a post office during work hours, but trust me, the package is in the car, patiently waiting for me to send it when I get the first available chance. See, I told you not to do housework as it is bad for your health. Glad to hear that you are on the mend now. Cannot keep a quilter down for long. Wow to Kim's latest quilt - magnificent. How much of it have you done already?

Dear Janet

I'm so glad that you have made such a quick recovery from this terrible accidents. It frightens me to think of how much worse this could have been! In my view housework and sports only end in injury, so I avoid both (this is meant to be humourous, hehe).

As far as Pandemonium goes, FABULOUS, have ordered my pattern and some backgrounds, and yes i am interested in the online tutorials.

Hugs, Deb

How wonderful to hear that you are on the mend, Janet. Woo hoo!

Kim's design is beyond wonderful but sooooo out of my league. I'll just have to watch the progress from the sidelines and drool.

Take care of yourself!

It's a great way to start the day when we can hear from you. I'm so happy to hear how well you're healing, Janet. So very happy. You're sharing some amazing appliqué design here, too. Wow! It's a great lesson in all aspects of appliqué it looks like but even more - looks to me like a great analogy for life. Work in the moment, live in the moment.

Have a wonderful day and be well. *karendianne.

I'm so glad that you are feeling better and healing well!! I've been thinking of you and sending well wishes. The new Kim McClean Quilt is incredible! I wish I could buy a big poster of it. I would be a bit overwhelmed to take on a project like that.. Maybe one day. I was annoyed Blogger didn't warn us, or not that I noticed, all of a sudden it was so different. I'm slowly getting my head around it. I hope your arm is fully better sooner than soon.

Glad you are on the mend! Housework is far too dangerous to undertake regularly. Stick with quilting - only get the occasional pricked finger.

You found a way to get the old blogger dashboard back?!?!?! I was all set to leave a comment thanking you for showing off that gorgeous quilt and telling you how glad I am that your burns weren't worse...and almost forgot about all of that because I'm so glad to see Blogger look the way it should again.
