This is the first time I've added a quilt to Amy's quilt blogger festival. I love applique and I love red and green quilts so this is a favourite. I made this one for my eldest grandaughter and finished it in 2006. It's hand appliqued, machine pieced and hand quilted. Unfortunately, it's hard to get a decent photo inside.
It's the first time I tried echo quilting...
or stipple quilting...
or feathers. It's also the first time I'd tried the dogtooth borders and will probably be the last.
The quilt was made in a year long class with
Val Moore and we were all encouraged to set our blocks and design borders with our own plan rather than following a set design.

I really like this quilt. The smaller blocks set next to the larger blocks really makes the overall pattern. You did a beautiful job on your applique work as well as your quilting.

Wow! What a gorgeous quilt for your granddaughter. I had so much fun seeing all the quilting too! I"m still slowly working away on hand quilting an old quilt I started and had put away for awhile.
