A little bit of this and a little bit of that.

It seems like I don't have much going on at the moment. I did my best impression of a kitchen goddess and tried out these cheesy feet. I didn't really like them , they were virtually a cheesy pastry but appealed to my sense of humour. I think I'll send the fun cutter to my grandkids and they can make sweet feet instead. That or look for another cracker recipe.
I'm also still making  bread regularly and not only is it cheaper, it's not full of preservatives and other unknown numbers of ingredients. Who remembers all those numbers anyway and whether they're bad for us or not. This one happens to be a sourdough.
We've been making the most of some nice weather in the weekends and doing the odd day drive. It's so nice to be out in the countryside.
One shop I visited had some nice linen and a few fat quarters which I thought would be perfect for making pouches.
I was also looking for this book which I've been eyeing up for a while. When Nat posted her tea cosy, that was it, I decided I did need the book and I found it, now I just need to search out some wool.
The other sort of place I have a good time hanging out at is stationery and office supply shops. That sounds a bit nerdy but there was a reason for going.
This is what I was after, a trestle table to do my hand basting and any big fusible ironing job. The good thing is that it folds up for storage.
My little distraction this week on the sewing front has been this block, It was just a quick fix but I loved it.

You did see my comment about this block over at Glorious Applique blog. I love the darker mood of fabric you used in this block. Specially the orange centre. Love it! Wow, no stopping you now with the Really wild tea cosies book. I'm almost finished my second one for a gift - Those feet are cute and they might go well with a cuppa soup - Hugs Nat

And your Roseville block - gorgeous.

Your block is fantastic! The center is especially cool.

I like office supplies as well - I think I like back-to-school time better than my daughter!

In stitches,
Teresa :o)

Sometimes little diversions are a great way to keep you from getting bored or tired of what you might be working on at the time. Sort of a refresher. I happen to like all your little diversions. I have to say that I also love the office supply stores too. Not sure what it is, but you can always fin something that has a nifty use. Love, love, love the applique block!!

Sour dough is our favorite bread but I haven't the foggiest how to make it from scratch. Maybe that's a good thing too...for my hips, i.e.

Now as far as the cheesy feet go, I think I could handle those. They sound yummy.

And while I'm on the yummy topic...your block is to die for! The colors and choice of fabrics is divine! *sigh*

Another gorgeous bright block. The feet may not have tasted good but they sure are cute. I have been thinking of making more bread - I just need the time.

Inspirational as always! I wish I could make myself sit down and applique. I enjoy doing it but the PREP work is the pits.

Another beautiful block Janet -- your applique is so inspirational! I love the school/office supply aisle at the store too -- yum, yum. Must be the memories from when we were children? Sorry about the crackers, but they sure are cute!

Yum....the crackers and bread look so good. I tried cheesy crackers years ago (cheesy people) and never tried again. If I remember the cheesy dough was so hard to work with. Love your colorful block. You have such fun fabrics in your stash.

Munaiba said...

Your block is superb! Not just the fabric choices but the stitching is totally invisible. Do you wash your fabrics first or not?

I love your applique piece. The only hand sewing I'm doing right now is working on my grandmother's flower garden quilt. I love shopping the office supply stores. You never know what you'll find there to help with the sewing/quilting. I'll have to give that table some thought. !Nita

The tea cozy makes me think of the Cat in the Hat!

Your bread looks scrummy (ha ha I almost posted the comment with the 'r' in scrummy missing - that would have had the opposite meaning). I'm hoping to get some starter going and make sourdough sometime. I love the block - your choice of fabrics makes it look so detailed.

Those little feet are so cute! I'll be on the lookout for a foot "cutter". ;)
Your table is the same as the one I use for basting. A card table can be set up next to it if needed for larger quilts.
Yummy new fabrics!
I LOVE your first RA block! :)

Your bread looks exactly like the stuff I pay almost $5 U.S. for at the fancy organic bakery. I must be yummy. I am smacking myself in the forehead after seeing your new table. I have a 6 foot table that folds but it is ridiculously heavy. I never thought of shopping for a light weight one. Duh!
