Glorious Applique

You know about the Glorious Applique blog by now don't you? I hang out there a lot because there are some darn good appliquers over there, all stitching away on Kim McLean's patterns. If you're not following along by now, you're missing out. There are a few tackling the new Roseville Album, Vases, Birds and Other Things. I bet you thought I'd have succumbed by now. Kim McLean has even started blogging there and I think we're in for a treat when we see some of her other quilts.
I was happily cutting away pieces for my Stars and Sprigs one evening. When I'd finished doing that and while I had scissors in my hand, I thought I might as well cut up the pattern sheets that just happened to be hanging out in the same room. Then I thought, I might as well cut some freezer paper pieces for a block, just while I had scissors in my hand you understand. You can see where I'm heading, right?
Next day, I thought to myself, well I might just cut up a few pieces of fabric and see what they look like on my background. Maybe I could even prep blocks and bag them for later stitching pleasure. Just think how organised I'll be after Stars and Sprigs. At this stage, I'm not thinking about UFO's. It's a slippery slide but I'm still convincing myself that I haven't started it. I'm just prepping don't ya know.
I did post about my progress on the Stars and Sprigs over at Glorious Applique and I'm beavering away on border number two, even if those blinkers have slipped a little.

I wish I could browse through your stash, look over your shoulder, get in your mind. I am just so dang impressed with your work. Love it, love it. Just keep it coming.

Janet, this quilt is simply amazing. How long did you work on the blocks and did you have a kit? I can't even begin to think how beautiful it is in person.

Yay Janet!! what a great block you've accidentally started!

Yes, I've finally worked out how this blogging goes, I had the computer guy here doing repairs and got him to show me. The only problem is I'm on these blogging pages instead of doing my work! I need to put the timer on I think.

May be your scissors will get to work on the second block? Looking great! Cheers, Kim McLean

All I can say is when I grow up, I want to be able to applique like you.

Your color/fabric choices combined with your amazing talent--well only stunning quilts are the result. Those slippery slopes are a problem, I completely understand.

I love that word Prepping. It means getting ready and so it cannot be classed as a UFO as you haven't stitched it yet.Ha! Right?
It looks very exciting what you are planning. Kim's patterns are just so fantastic. Having cut all the background fabrics ready for Hearts and Romance I must get to the next stage and START. Shall look forward to the progress. I am not counting how many UFO's I have seen, after all you do read my blog and may have noticed one or two that I have. Hee Hee!

Nah...you haven't started yet...well perhaps just a little bit! Mind you its now Thursday and you have probably stitched all these glorious colours down by now!!! Adore sprigs and stars! xo

Your Stars and Sprigs looks fabulous!
Might as well get a block or two "prepped" while you have the fabrics out to cut pieces for the leaves on the Sprigs quilt? You haven't tested how the thread will look yet have you? ;)
I think we all know how sneaky that Roseville pattern is? It made me open it out and lay some pieces of fabric next to it! :)

Love the GA blog - just think, doing some prep on the next blocks is like eating dessert without the calories! Just love all your recent pictures, Janet!

That darn Roseville! I am having the same trouble--I promised myself I'd finish two large tops that are all done but the borders before I started on Roseville, but before I knew it, I had opened the pattern and started pulling fabric! Maybe it was just a little diversion to give you renewed blinder power to complete your beautiful Sprigs & Stars? (It's going to be so stunnning!)
