We've just enjoyed a long weekend here for the Queen's birthday and it's been a busy one. Going shopping is madness at the moment with all the sales going on but I needed to get some clothes and what did I come home with? I had to have this little polka dot set, it wasn't expensive and if you live in this part of the world, it's by Maxwell Williams and is just the right size for the two of us. I even went to the tea shop to get some fancy pants loose leaf tea to christen it.
That liitle purchase kinda eased the pain of being in a dressing room with mirrored walls. You know the ones, no doubting what the back or side views look like. It was like being in a mirror maze and I was glad to get out of there.
You probably want to know about quilty stuff. The last week has been all about blocks. I managed to get 16 of the Klosjes done so my total is now 165. Am I sick of them yet? Heck no but I don't know if I'll make it to 400. I might have to give some thought to settings soon.
I finished the two Morrell blocks I started and I really enjoyed doing the broderie perse. The fusible I use is Lite Steam a Seam 2, it keeps a nice clean edge
This hand pieced 20" monster took me quite a bit of time, it looks more crooked in the photo than what it really is.
The fabric I was searching for on the last post arrived in the mail so now I'm ready for more blocks. I think I might give this one a light coffee dye to cream it up a bit.
I'm switching styles with the quilts in progress and did get four more small applique blocks done for the Stars andSprigs quilt. I'm so thrilled to have 6 out of 9 rows done. I can't wait to get to the borders.
Because of all the distractions with making blocks, I've just been nibbling at the hand quilting. It's taking a bit longer than I anticipated since I decided to echo the circles. It looks better and it evens up the density of quilting throughouout the top. I'll get there, there's no time frame.

I love the happy red polka dot tea set. And 400 Klosjes? That is quite an ambitious goal. You can do it!
Stars and Sprigs is absolutely fabulous. And of course your Klosjes are wonderful. Can't wait to see the hand quilted quilt - the peek is wonderful.
Onces again thank you for the eye candy, it makes my day so much better as I have gotten Sophie's cough and cold. Been off colour since friday and need to get over it as I am off to Sydney this friday with a friend.

Love your blocks. You are doing such beautiful work. I just posted that I have 157 klosjes done. I am with you, I am not tired of them. They are relaxing to work on. Thank you for sharing.

The Stars and Sprigs is a feast of colours. Love, love, love it. And that red/white polka dot tea set is so cute! I never want to think about dressing room mirrors. I'll never recover from the experience of being startled at the the back side of a strange woman in the mirror and then realizing it was my backside. Horror!

Wow, you have been really busy! Just love, love the red polka dot teapot and cups. They just make me smile to look at them. I have been on the lookout for years for a dotted teacup and saucer like the one in the Hope Floats movie. All your quilting is coming along so nicely. Congrats on such a productive week!

I'm glad you're not 'over' the klosjes yet as I really love the updates. I think they're absolutely gorgeous. I do wish I didn't have 3 bazillion projects on the go already so I could join you all in making them. (sigh) I have to comfort myself with yours.

I think your decision to echo the circles was a good one. It evens out the quilting. That's what I'm doing in my Andalusian tile quilt - echo quilting. It's taking ages.

My finger hovered over the click button again yesterday and I stopped myself but now that I see your progress on the Sarah Morrell quilt I am not so sure next time I will be able to talk myself out of it. The blocks are really beautiful. Love the crockery. Love the big stitch quilting .

Where to start...I was in a dressing room yesterday myself. Wish they had a polka dot tea set to ease the pain. I do so love the spools and everything you make. May I ask what you use to mark your quilting lines?
Blocks, blocks and more blocks. I picked three. Excellent workmanship on that 20" monster. Ohh but I love this piece. Aren't you off to a racing start with the Morrell Quilt. I knew this was going to be fun! You know, the echo of the circles is a great idea. And I think a shining example of how sometimes we just have to settle in for the long haul. Leaving my favorite for last... how about Stars and Sprigs? How about that?! Standing supreme in my eyes. Can't hardly contain myself. That's why I left it until last. So I could run away and go put myself in a jar before I explode! :) hee.

Maybe take a break from the Klosjes. I felt that way about my baskets this weekend. Its nice to see an update on some of your current creations.

I just found your blog recently and have enjoyed seeing your projects. I think your colors are wonderful. I'm inspried to try the "klosjes". Not sure if I spelled it right. Where can I find a pattern for them?
Also great idea dying the white floral--never thought of doing that but I agree on principle. Sometimes white backgrounds can be too stark.
Precious polka dot set ! Makes me wish I could stand hot tea......I barely make it through a glass of the iced sweet stuff, and that's a poor confession for a good, Southern gal.
You know I love that quilt that you're hand-quilting on right now. I just can't wait so see it all finished and crinkled up at the end of a couch !

I live in a very humid climate, and my Steam a Seam products always separate prematurely, making clean cutting a problem. Do you have to deal with this at all? All your projects are stunning, and I love checking in on them. Michele
