I'm back with stash

What a great three weeks away,  I love being around my family since I have none in Australia.  It's good to be back and just in time for Valentines day, I hope you all had a wonderful day with your loved ones.
I had one small bag I bought back that was just filled with goodies from the quilt shops we visited. The fabrics are expensive in New Zealand so it was mainly fat quarters that I bought. Feel sorry for them paying $32 per metre for Kaffes. My American friends will be gagging at that.

Some red and whites for my nearly insane quilt which I'm vowing to get back to.
I couldn't go past this wool kit. I'm such a sucker for a kit, I really should tame that beast as I tend to put them away and not get them made. It's a vice I'm trying to curb but I wanted to try it out and a kit is better than buying a stash of wool. See, I justified it, lol.
Romantics, not my usual purchase but oh so very Marie Antoinette that I have a plan for.
The fabric at the back is a Valorie Wells that is perfect for the coloured pencils I want to play with. The linen at the front is a Japanese Echino.
The rest of my purchases were for general stash enhancement that will end up in scrappy quilts or for making small things. Now I think I had better make plans for culling some of my really old fabrics I won't use, I've run out of storage space and I've started taking over the spare room next door to the sewing room.

Love the Valori Wells print. I donate the unloved fabrics to a friend who makes LOTS of charity quilts. That way I get rid of it, she is happy to have it, and it gets used for those in need.

Glad you enjoyed your holiday-but then who wouldn't. Thanks for the warning of price of Kaffes in NZ. With going back to live I will stock up now.

Welcome back home! You picked up beautiful fabrics -- and yeow! that's some serious cost for Kaffe fabric. That's just painful.

Don't you hate it when the stash starts to spill into adjacent rooms? (Not that I'd know anything about that!) ;-)
Lovely selection of new fabrics!

I can totally relate to fabric taking over. I think I must have fabric stashed in nearly every room in the house! Love those red and white pieces and glad you had a great time with your family.

Boy Janet, I'm with you about the price of fabric here at home. Isn't atrocious isn't it. No wonder we buy from overseas so much. Such a shame.
Pleased to hear you had a wonderful time.

Welcome back, looks like you had a fantastic time. Love that fabric with the little birds on. Can't wait to see what you are going to make with them. If you are anything like me they end up being stroked for a long time before they get made into something. I too now need a bigger house just to store the fabric.

Love them all Janet. Yes $32 per metre is a bit much, but you seemed to justified everything you bought LOL! Glad you enjoyed your visit to NZ. My turn will be here soon. Happy late Valentine's Day - Hugs Nat

Whoa, that is a ton of money for Kaffe's! That would be one quilt, I wouldn't want to give away. But you managed to come away with some wonderful finds. Glad you are back! Hope you had a terrific Valentine's day!

Nice wool kit. I am so glad you had a good time with your family. I see a lot of new additions to your stash. I bet they are grateful that U.S. shops can ship to them!

A wool kit is the best way to go unless you want to start a whole 'nother stash!! Wool is so fun to work with.
Nice goodies you brought home.:)

Lovely! You just reminded me, I did get back at my Nearly Insane a few weeks ago and I FORGOT TO POST about it! (note to self, take photos tonight...)

You have great a great sense of color and print. I love your combinations. And yes, I'd be gagging over $32 Kaffe fabric. Gosh, I've been thinking we pay too much for it here in the US! But it's all in the perspective. Thanks for improving my view.

Glad your trip was good. Yes, $32 for a mtr is expensive. I started quilting when I lived in Canada, and did not have a stash. I moved to the U.S. in 2004 when fabric was $8/yd. It felt like it was free! Now I have a stash!

Nedra said...

You are right, as much as I love Kaffes I wouldn't want to spend $32 a yard for them. Guess I should count myself lucky. My LQS has a 40% off coupon and I can often pick up Kaffes at a really good price.
Welcome back.

Loved all the fabrics that I see here, in your blog. I love fabrics by Echino & Keiko Goke.

I am a fan of kits for wool projects. Who has room for more stash and the wool is pricier than the cotton. Much better to buy the kit with small pieces. I am very inspired by all your bright and cheery fabric choices. You'll make my stash start to spill over even more than it is now.

Welcome home, Janet.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't spare rooms used to store "spare" stuff? (wink)

You made some great fabric choices there and I can't wait to see them evolve.

Please...:o)

Wow, I am gagging! That's awful -- I should run out and buy a bunch of Kaffe's because I can! Of course, it's all relative -- perhaps the average salary in NZ is ten times what we make here??? Looks like you got some fun goodies!

you lucky duck..
the fabrics look dreamy...

Oh but you must admit that's an very special wool kit; quite unique in a New Zealand way. Clicking on the photo and really looking at it - one can see that immediately! See, I just helped justify it. Welcome home, Janet. Welcome home! Glad you had a lovely trip though you were missed. *karendianne.
