Progress

I've been escaping down stairs into the sewing room to escape the heat, It's a lot cooler down there. Good excuse to get some sewing done I say.
So here's my progress so far on the 16 patch quilt which is only sewn together in eight patches so far.
I think I'll have to call this one Autumn Illusion. I will probably go an extra half row on the side which will make it about 74" x 80" I'm liking it a lot.

Our dollar is doing very well at the moment so it was a good excuse to keep the stock up on the Westminster fabrics. I'm quite sad that some of my older ones have run out. These are going to be useful for the Joseph's Coat quilt along. More on that next time.

The only other thing I've done in the last week is this little Heather Bailey pincushion. Very cute but it's an  impractical shape for me so this may end up as a gift for a little girl . In fact I may even have to do two, I'll see because I have a few things to get going on in the gift department.

We are going to have very high temperatures this week so I'm going to try to avoid going outside if I can, bushfire season has started. A good excuse to stay in and sew.

I nearly forgot, Lena is having a giveaway so If you haven't entered already click here.

Autumn Illusion is a great name for your 16 patch - it's very eye-catching. You are having such hot weather! Here in Perth it has been so mild... I still have two blankets on my bed...

Absolutely love the little turtle pincusion... very charming and sweet...

I heard you were having a bit of a heat wave. It is so nice your sewing room is downstairs where you can stay cool. I love how the 16 patch is turning out!!

Autumn Illusion is the perfect name. I love that quilt! And who said pincushions need to be practical? I collect pin cushions and I have fun just looking at them all playing together.

Your quilt is coming along just beautifully! It is difficult to use up the Westminster fabrics...especially the ones that are no longer available. I'm not sure I could do it. :)

Hi Janet, I dropped by yesterday to leave a comment, then got distracted by the Aussie dollar being so good, so now I'm back again!!! (Bought a few Kaffes/Brandons). Anyway, I adore your Autumn Illusion quilt, it's fabulous and a great way to use up smaller scraps too. I love your colours. I love your Josephs Coat colours, and I have to make one of those turtle pincusions! xo

I absolutely love that quilt, Janet. The colors just 'do it' for me.

We're having unseasonably mild weather over here for November. I think we've broken all kinds of records but not as HOT as the temperatures you're experiencing. Yes, it's best to stay indoors and sew.

Love that turtle pincushion!

Hi Janet - this quilt is just lovely. I love the subtle colours you have used. Makes a good contrast with the cool blues of your JC quilt.
