This is the quilt that has drawn the most interest from my blog and I promised I would try and get the publishers of the magazine to fix the link for the correct templates. The magazine is no longer available, not even as a back order. It's done, so click
here to get them and make sure you print them with the no scale option for your printer. It's issue 18 Candied Hexagons and there are two pages to download.
The maker of the original quilt, Kerry Dear, used the Marti Michell hexagon templates. I hand pieced mine but you can machine piece if you are
ok with set in seams.

I love the spotty back with the striped binding.
I cut my inner border 1.5" and the outer one 4.25"
I thought I'd show you a few of my
favourite hand quilting books. The
Encyclopedia of Designs for Quilting is my absolute favourite. It has so much information on background quilting designs and how to make simple cardboard templates to mark them. I do have a couple of others but these are a few of my favourites that I go to for ideas.

Thank you so much Janet. I actually have those templates you mentioned so now I will know what to do with them.
Thank you for all the work you have done on finding the parts of this quilt for us!
Such an amazing quilt! It always makes me happy to see it on your blog header. Thanks for sharing the information on the templates, and the books on machine quilting.

I just love your beutiful Candied hexagon quilt. It is so vibrant and fresh. Lots of yummy colours. All those big and small prints work so well together.

In my wanderings around in blog land I often see a reference to your quilt, it is a stunner IMHO.
I'm going to look for that Encyclopedia book, I love books like that.

Gorgeous! LOVE the polka dot backing and the striped binding is perfect.
Oooh, I love the back and binding too. What a beautiful quilt!!!
Thanks so much!! That is such a wonderful quilt and I would love to put it on my list of projects to do. Now off to the link.

Janet,
This is just glorious! Your control of all the prints and colors is incredible.
Whoohoo! I've got the mag - will Post about it tomorrow!
Hugs - lurline♥
thanks for getting the templates. That is the happiest quilt. I love your blog. Your quilts are exquisite.
I followed the link for Encyclopedia of Quilting Designs and it looks like a fantastic book.
I love the fabrics / colors you used in your quilt. It's just beautiful!
Thank you for these great pics, I drew out the pattern/layout last night and counted up what I needed for each type of hexagon. These will help a great deal!
Love the spotty and striped finishing, too but the quilt itself is amazing!!!
Love this quilt!
Beautiful quilt:)
Thanks for the info on The Encyclopedia of Designs for Quilting. I haven't seen it but was able to order a copy through Amazon.com. Quilting with Style: Priniciples for Great Pattern Design by Gwen Marston & Joe Cunningham has been my favorite source for info on hand quilting but it looks like the encyclopedia may rival it. I can't wait for it to arrive.
Love your color choices...they compliment each quilt you make!
Hi Janet
I adore that quilt. I love the colors you used and the pattern is fabulous!
A wonderful quilt, love it.
Your blog keeps getting better and better! Your older articles are not as good as newer ones you have a lot more creativity and originality now keep it up!
Love your quilt, it's the perfect colour scheme! I'm working on my own at the moment.. slow but steady!
I'm involved in a mini quilt swap on Instagram and I know my secret partner has been looking for these templates with no success. I'm so excited to find through you here - yippee! I'm going to make her mini out of them and then send her the templates too as a gift. Thanks so much for sharing :)
