There are a few ideas in these two books but I think I'd like to add more of the pieced coloured blocks rather than have so much white space as in the examples in these books.
I've stumbled across a new to me blog I have to tell you about. If you love reproduction style quilts, Lori has some great ones to look at here at Humble Quilts. Leave her a comment so she'll be encouraged to keep blogging! I've been through her past posts and was drooling at the ones I'll have to put on a list to maybe do one day.

Did you know that Jeanna Kimball is a Utah girl? Isn't her work amazing? She used to live right here in St. George, but a few years ago moved to a small town towards the center of the state.
The site you sent us to has some great applique quilts.
Thanks for the link to the new blogger...and those applique' books look amazing!
I love Jeana Kimball's work too. thanks for the link to Lori...she lives near me. What a coincidence!
I love your blocks! Will work well in a quilt together...
Janet very nice blocks and excellent books.
So fresh and so clean looking! Fantastic! Thanks for sharing another wonderful blogger. You know I will love that one too!
I have Jeana's book too, I love her applique patterns. Your blocks are great and the circles really were the final touch to pull the applique together. I love tree blocks...those and houses always make a quilt so homey to me.
Crispy
I think that is a great idea. It will definitely make the quilt very interesting and keep your eye moving to see all the interesting blocks.
Your pine tree block is beautiful, all those triangles!!!! Both your blocks look really crisp, cannot wait to see what you make next!
The red & white applique block is very, very good. Thanks for showing a picture of those two books. I want to check them out better and will look for them on the internet.
I have been to Humble Quilts a few times and she does very nice work. My kind of quilts!
Lovely tree block! I sure enjoyed Humble Quilts blog - I had to look at all the posts back to the beginning. Thanks!
I got that book on the right for Christmas! I love these traditional blocks.
