I would do embroidery to satisfy my need to stitch. I bet we all have tried other crafts before we discovered quilting. I went through one of my phases where I did a series of Stumpwork embroidery classes, but I was already a quilter. Juggling the two doesn't work for me anymore but I do have these framed pieces around the house so indulge me please while I make a record of them. Scarlet Honeyeater on gum blossom branch.

OMG - those are amazing. I enlarged them and am totally blown away by them. How long does it take to one of those?

AMAZING! I've never embroidered, but this makes me want to try it. They're beautiful.
Picture me at your feet, bowing and saying "I'm Not Worthy, I'm Not Worthy"!!! That is the most incredible, beautiful embroidery I have ever seen. You are a Master!!

Wow! What amazing stitching! And it's so tiny.
Amazing hand work!
Very interesting that you should mention Quilter Blogs. The site has been developed by Dan Purcell, who is the son of Bob and Heather Purcell, who are the owners of Superior Threads, who I work for.
Got that?
Anyway, it's a great site and thanks for mentioning it!
Fantastic, I LOVE the hummingbird!
Wow..never seen anything like this..amazing..:o)
Just amazing, the 'peas and bee' was the last one Mum did before her fingers gave out, she has that one on her kitchen wall too. Well done.
What a nice blog.. I think this is my first visit.. but certainly not my last. Thank you so much for visiting me so I could come and find you. Your appliqué is awesome. And I imagine you had a blast photographing that stumpwork too.. lovely!

I have never heard of Stumpwork embroidery. These are just amazing works of art. How long did it take to complete just one of them.
Once again Janet, your work has left me breathless. Simply awesome!
Absolutely gorgeous!
I've never heard of such a thing as Stumpwork embroidery. Is it very time consuming? Looks like it..as they are absolutely gorgeous. The hummingbird....OMG!!
Beautiful. Your blog is so inspiring. Not sure how I found it, but have been reading for a little while and recommended it to a friend who is slowly working on a Baltimore album.
Janet
You are just sooooo talented, that embroidery is just stunning, Ikwym about no longer doing it though, quilting is a bug and when it bites it bites.
I passed your blog onto another kiwi patchworker that I came across today in an upholstery shop. She is visiting from Ratahi and was telling me about the symposium she attended in wellington over Easter. How we got to that I am not sure but I guess as patchworkers we are all magnetised.
Keep your gorgeous work coming.
Wow -- those are beautiful! Thanks for including the thimble to give us some perspective. Gorgeous work!
Exquisite work and stumpwork is one of my 'to do' things one day. I love embroidering!
Thanks for sharing these.
Oh me too ... but they are just beautiful. Seems to me you excell at what ever you do!
OH my gosh! That is beautiful work! Gorgeous! 8-)
