I also managed to get started onto some tarts for the the pies and tarts BOM and one pie in the background. Good to do in front of the telly. And, I did mange to do another string star, this time to finish 20" That's a better size for me. I took out the stitch and tear once the star was together and that made the set in seams a breeze to do.
This week, I asked my DD if she would like me to make a cot quilt and she jumped at that. Her time is pretty limited. I thought for a baby this cheater panel by Moda would be great, after all it is in the stash to be used. I'll need to put a border on so the blue spot looks good.
I could use your opinion as to which stripe would be the better binding. The orange lifts it and the blue/green softens it.
Possible backing options. I could use both.
And finally I did get some over ripe bananas used up, part of this to go in the freezer, part to go to two of DH's boys, oops I mean men!
Good news, DH's #2 son had a baby boy last night, a month early and a bit of drama surrounding the birth but all is well even if the little one is only a bit over 4 pound.

Oh, Janet - what would you produce if you got a lot done - that is just amazing! I am collecting the Pie Club, too, but haven't started - gorgeous, quilt, though I'm not too fond of the background fabrics.
Congratulations on your new arrival - how exciting, we have one too, not human though!
Hugs - Lurline♥
PS - notice the new pic!
Congratulations on the newest member of your family! Our Jessie was just 4lb5oz ... so small I was scared to touch her. I wish him and his mummy & daddy all the very best! I so love babies!
Hi Janet
You just keep producing wonderful things looks so precise to.
I prefer the softer option of binding however either would look great. Hmm wouldn't mind a slice of that banana cake with my cuppa, wonder if it was an 'Edmonds' recipe ?
Even though you didn't have a lot of time for sewing, it "seams" that you got a lot accomplished. I love the blocks you made. The panel will be very cute made up. I hope all goes well with the new baby .
Janet your blocks are just marvelous.
I love the inspiration on your blog!
Oh my gosh...what do you mean that you didn't get a lot accomplished...geez??? I love those compass blocks. How big are they?
The tarts are looking great, I need to go on a car trip to get caught up with mine...lol
There's something for you on my blog, so if you get a chance check it out.
The cake looks yummy, yummy! I like the brighter binding and congrats on the new little grandbaby.
I really like all of projects that you have shown- especially the string star. What will the quilt look like?
Thanks for the eye candy!
I think the orange binding and the polka dot back would really make the quilt pop:)
I would choose the stripe for the binding and the blue print for the backing - it is so cute with the Moda panel.
Hi Mum,
Ok so in my humble opinion I think the orange binding if you really want a frame for the quilt although this really could stand out.
The Blue stripe is very nice but could and wont be so bold it could be a nice soft way to finish off the quilt. I think the blue is the safer option. That is if you want to play it safe.
Backing fabric - I think you have to use the picture fabric backs get played with to!
I think the orange would be perfect since it's blue's compliment on the color wheel. You can never go wrong following this rule of thumb.
Are you serving tea with the banana bread, Janet? If so, I'll be right over. (wink)
I'd love to have one of your days where you don't accomplish much. Wow, and everything looks smashing too!
Blessings to your grandbaby.
