I was blown away by this lovely lot of goodies that arrived in the mail last week from Tara over at Sew Unique Creations as a thank you for sharing something of mine. It was a big surprise and thrill I can tell you. Thanks a million Tara, I love it all to bits.
The book is a wonderful read and makes me think that maybe my quilts I make for family do have stories attached to them.
This book is a Christmas gift to myself that arrived in the mail today. It is truly inspiring to read about Martha Skelton and her quilts, I'm going to savour it slowly and make it last. What an amazing quilter, I'd love to be like her.
I'm not doing any Christmas sewing, the time has gotten away from me but I am plugging away at some hand quilting because summer has left Sydney so I'm making the most of quilting weather.I'm going to put the next Trailing Vines quilt panel on hold until January just because of time restraints. I have no idea how many people are downloading the pattern or how many have made a start or going to make a start but I'm sure nobody has made the two panels yet. I'll be working on my next one after Christmas and hope to put more information up as well at the same time.
So fun to receive such goodness in the mail. I am going to have to look up that book! And I am looking forward to seeing your next installment of the trailing vines. I just think that quilt is the just stunning!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous decorations. Your work is always perfection. I could look at your trailing vines everyday. I'll be investigating that book.

ReplyDeleteI know you'll enjoy the book about Martha. I have been privileged to learn from her and enjoy her generous, caring approach towards her students and her friends. I appreciate your willingness to share your knowledge also, and love the work you do.
ReplyDeleteOh, yes, those are some amazing gifts from Tara.
ReplyDeleteLooks like lots of pretty silk thread.
Never see the other book. Looks interesting.
Your ornaments are beautiful Janet! I love that Reasons for Quilting book -- I picked it up at market this year. And now, upon your recommendation, I've added the Martha Skelton book to my wishlist! (Are there lots of pictures? I love lots of inspriring pictures ;-) )
ReplyDeleteYour hardanger ornaments look amazing - so very pretty!
ReplyDeleteI think it might be too late to put the Martha Skelton book on my Christmas list... for this year anyway. It looks like a good one.
I just sewed a couple leaves past the halfway mark of panel one - no I don't think I will be requiring panel 3 before January :0) I love to see pictures of your Trailing vines - so very gorgeous!!
The ornaments are beautiful....I just started to put the vines on panel one. So please just take your time. The holidays are such a busy time. Have a merry Christmas.....
ReplyDeleteThose are gorgeous ornaments. What do you use for linen? I have done that and cross stitching in the past, but quilting has taken over my life. It reminds me to get some old stash patterns out.
ReplyDeleteTrailing Vines is definitely on my list of quilts to start in the New Year. This horrible year is so going to be over and done with. Love the Hardanger. Have not done any of that either for a long time.
ReplyDeleteYour swap decorations are lovely! And so are the thoughtful gifts that surprised you in the mail. I've never heard of Martha Skelton, I'll have to look her up. You vines are so wonderful!!
ReplyDeleteI thought you would have to be an Aussie master quilter! ;) LOL

Your hardanger ornaments look so very pretty! I've tried doing it but it's too hard on my eyes..
