Fantasy flowers

It's not hard to guess what I've been up to in the last week, or at least for a part of it.
I've reacquainted myself with my magic blinkers which had temporarily lost their magic powers.
There's been a fair bit of project rotation going on in my mind and it was time to settle back into some sort of order. I only had five Flower Garden blocks left to do and blow me down if I didn't manage to get four of them done, the last one is in progress.
Oops, I didn't mean for this one to grow a face, honestly it was an accident but it's staying as is for a laugh. Sometimes quilts should bring a smile.
I'm pretty sure I'll be renaming this quilt "Fantasy Garden"  If you'd like to stich or are stitching one of Kim McLean's patterns, we now have a system set up over at Glorious Applique to allow more contributors. Just send a request via email to me from here or over there.

    Your flower fantasy blocks are wonderful!! I especially like the leaves in the first one. The happy faces do make me smile. One more block - yeah!!

    The fantasy flowers blocks look wonderful! The block with the face reminds me of those charming dancing vegetable stitcheries from the 1940s.

    Well done to you Janet. The blocks are looking great and think of the smile on someone's face when thay find that flower with the happy face. Quilting should be fun and is meant to be fun - who are the quilt police anyway. Your quilt, your rules.

    Your applique is wonderful. I struggle with applique. I have a project that requires some applique and I have been putting it off for a VERY long time. However this week I cut out some of the applique shapes. One step closer. Just got to pull up my britches and do the actual stitching.

    Janet your blocks are gorgeous and I think the one with the face is hilarious, funny how we don't notice thes things until we photograph them. I am so glad you have decided to keep her I am sure she will continue to bring a smile to your face lol

    You know how much I love these flowers!! I didn't notice the smiling face but now you say it.. but it works really well. The colours and fabrics are fantastic!! perfect for a fantasy garden,

    so funny I took my blocks out last night and decided I need to prep a block or two this week.
    I need to get back to applique and this is the perfect project for me to do that...
    ah send those magic blinders over for a few months ok?

    I think the third flower has a face too, a sort of alien kind ;). But honestly, your work is amazing and I'm just wondering how you manage to do all of this in such a short time. think I need to take some time management lessons from you!

    Fantastic!

    I'm just about to begin my Flower Garden. The only thing stopping me is deciding on a background. And that seems to be the hardest part. I'm agonizing over the decision when I know I shouldn't be.

    Fabulous, I like the faces, it will add some whimsy to the finished piece. If they were all the same, it would be boring!

    Gorgeous blocks! Any tips to working with some of Kaffe's fabrics and how to pair them with others? I'm not real comfortable putting colors this wild and vivid together even though I really like how they look paired.

    Pity these are only fantasy flowers - think how great it would be if we had real flowers like this - the world would have to be a happier place! Just wonderful colours and why shouldn't a happy face be smiling back! Just love it...
