Seuss loot

I see fabric lines coming out and I usually pass it by and then months later I decide I really need it. That's when it starts getting thin on the ground and I have to search for what I want. Oh the thrill of the chase.
I have in my hot little hands a fat quarter bundle of the Dr Seuss Cat In The Hat fabric plus some other pieces of Seuss yardage.
It's not easy coming up with stuff to make for boys so this is just the ticket. I found some very good ideas like This pillow from Nova

I made this quilt about eight years ago when my son was a teenager, he wanted bright and that's what he got although it looks pretty faded to me now.
I was hand quilting it and snipping off the plastic tags that I'd used to baste it, when I cut through the top. Luckily it was in a bottom corner. The first thing quilters think of is what can be appliqued over that cut. I had a piece of the Cat In The Hat fabric and it added that little surprise in the quilt that looked like it belonged.
Now if I had more of this fabric, I could even whip up some pillowcases, somehow I don't think I have enough for it all.

    That's a fun fabric line..and a classic.
    Good save on your son's quilt! That applique looks like it was planned from the start. :)

    Oh Dr. Suess how do we love thee? I nabbed a little more than I should have myself. I don't care -- it's a classic. I'm glad you got some too. And I LOVE that little patch -- you're such a clever girl!!!

    I also got a fabric package last week and it included some Dr. Seuss fabric. I'm planning to make a quilt for my daughter who is a "brand new" primary teacher. I can't wait to see what you will do with yours. And yes, I also did the trick with cutting into the top of a quilt while removing the plastic tags once. I decided to put the label there as it was near the bottom corner. I've in the meantime bought myself a "tag remover" (it's like a little fork which cuts through the tags).

    That is a good fabric line to have in your stash.
    I love a well loved quilt. Does your son still use it?

    Ah, my favorite book while I was growing up - love this fabric and it will make a marvelous quilt. I would have a hard time giving it up - maybe keep it on hand for when the grands visit? :)

    I never read the stories, but I love how colorful it is. Some fabric just speaks to you. Can relate to that...

    I love stripes and I love polkadots! I love Dr Suess too, although my enthusiasm is waning with each repetition my children demand.

    My son loves Dr Suess! The Cat in the Hat, Horton Hears a Who, and If I ran the Circus are his favourites - not that you asked for that much info LOL I love reading them becuase of the rhyming rhythm you get into.
    Such fun fabric, I really should get some!

    Yep, this will be great fabric for a little boy!! They are such difficult creatures to quilt for LOL.

    Oh I've had to fix a cutting booboo like that before, but it's way cuter to have the Cat in the Hat marching across a quilt. Makes me smile.

    Can't wait to see what you make with your Seuss fabric.

    Love Cat in the Hat. I refer to my kids as Thing One and Thing Two. Mr. Creations has a Cat in the Hat costume he's worn on Halloween for trick or treaters.

    I used to read all of the Cat In The Hat books to my children. Now I read those old very used books to my grand children. Happy memories.

    I agree with you...I have a nephew that I'm constantly trying to make things for that look like a boy and it IS a challenge. I sure like the Dr. Suess fabrics.
