My daughter Amelia and grandson Noah have gone back home after a whirlwind ten day visit and of course while they were here, we did visit a quilt shop where Amelia picked up these two wooden needle holders which she tarted up. One for me and one for her. Of course mine is the red one.
One day was spent in a furious sewathon while she had the chance. I got baby duties and Amelia raided the stash. She had bought Kellie's Worry Dolls pattern and wanted to make three cushions as gifts for the girls up coming birthdays.
For someone who hadn't done any machine applique or quilting before the workshop, she nailed these and now has the confidence and know how to tackle more of the Don't look Now patterns. I think these look fantabulous.
As for Noah, he was really hard to get photos of, the little guy doesn't stay still. I have a few nice ones though. Here he is modelling the knitted wool jacket I started ten years ago. (yeah you read that right) I hang my head in shame but Amelia sewed it up and I put the hood and buttons on and it can be used by at least one grandchild.
A perfect fit, lol. I actually knitted the same pattern up twice before for when my two were little but it didn't take me that long. Funny that the pattern is still around after thirty years.
I love this one with his glasses on to help correct the squint, pretty hard to keep on when there is no nose bridge. He's a babylicious sweetie but then I'm biased.
Corrie from Retro Mummy has just posted part two of the workshop we took last weekend, I see another photo of Noah over there.
wow she has a natural gift to machine quilting!
ReplyDeletebeautiful job, love those pillows, the girls are going to be thrilled.
oh he is adorable!
she has her hands filled with him I bet!
I bet Amelia had fun shopping in your stash, I know I would!

Noah sure is a sweetie. Like mother - like daughter when it comes to talent, that knitting and quilting is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteOh, yes he is babalicious!Babies with glasses look like they are going to say ingenious stuff. He looks very happy in his new sweater. Amelia did a perfect job of the pillows. Thank you for showing her work. I haven't attempted machine quilting for fear of failure, but now I think I will take a class. Thank you Both.

Hi Janet, I bet you loved the baby duties..they're always such fun. And I do love that knitted jacket on the little munchkin. Kind regards, Anita.
ReplyDeleteLove the needleholder - very cute, indeed.
ReplyDeleteThe cushions are adorable - your daughter is very gifted and talented (hmmm like her Mom)
And that little guy is beyond cute - oh my goodness, Janet he's precious.
Oh, I love that Worry Dolls pattern -- those little pillows turned out just great! If you're hanging your head in shame after 10 years, then I should run with my tail tucked between my legs. I have a sweater that I started 25 years ago for my oldest. I was going to finish it for the youngest, but that never happened. I'm hoping someday there will be a grandchild -- then I'll finish it LOL!
ReplyDeleteAmelia is a natural and you are a great teacher Janet! And oh my - Noah looks so cute in the hooded sweater!
ReplyDeleteYour grandchildren are adorable. Ours are coming to visit for a few days this week. I can't wait!!
ReplyDeleteAre you kidding? Amanda is new to this?! She must be a prodigy or something. Her work both quilts and baby (!) are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteYou must be a proud mum yourself!
Tienes un nieto precioso. Un saludo

ReplyDeleteNoah definitely is babylicious. And he looks wonderful in Granny's hand made sweater.
Wow - no machine quilting experience - she did an awesome job! Wonder where she gets it? :)
ReplyDeleteNoah is adorable,
Jo
Those cushions are lovely and Noah is very cute Janet. My daughter and grand-daughter have just gone back to England after a 2 week visit. I hadn't seen them in 3 1/2 years.
ReplyDeleteQuilting must be in her blood - those cushions are beautiful! I love the sweater you made as well - what a cute black and white picture you got of him in it!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cutie...
ReplyDeleteThe apple does not fall too far from the tree in your family!! Great job she did.
Little Corie is gorgeous. Looks like his jacket is going to fit him next year as well which is great :-)
ReplyDeleteCheers

WOW! Amelia is a natural -- those cushions are beautiful. I'd want to just pet them and feel that lovely quilty texture! Wonderful work!! The sweater is adorable -- goes to show that a great design is timeless, no? I'll bet the house seems quiet now.
ReplyDeleteLove the Julia, Ella and Sophie appliques--what a cute idea and fabulous job! And only ten years on that lovely sweater--that's awfully quick compared to an ugly one I've had in process for my "baby" son for 25 years. Maybe someday I'll get lucky and have a cutie like Noah who'll inspire me to finish it...
ReplyDeleteI have a grandson named Noah also, and he is 2 years old. Looks like you had a wonderful time together.
ReplyDeleteWow Janet, I can't believe how fast she picked up quilting, and the cushions are perfect! Noah is a cutie with those pretty glasses, too. Sounds like you had a great visit.
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet, sweet baby, and he looks just adorable in those glasses! Glad you have his little sweater finished - good things come to those who wait. So happy that you got to spend some time with your daughter, and I imagine she just loved making some projects with you. I remember just craving some time to create when my girls were little. Thank goodness I had an understanding hubby.
ReplyDeleteYour daughter did an amazing job on her first Kellie designs. That's very encouraging to those of us who HOPE to try one someday.
ReplyDeleteAren't grandsons just the most precious beings in the world? Our little Aussie family has returned to the US and have been living with us for the past 20 days. They'll be moving into their new home (3+ hours away) next week. I will miss them SO MUCH! How old is your little Noah? He looks the same age as our Tay who's ten months. On the move is right! Physically demanding, isn't it?
Awww... he's precious. My 10 year old grandson has worn glasses since he was 15 months. You're right...they are hard to keep on the nose.
ReplyDeleteI love that pic of Noah with his glasses! he is so cute!!!! Glad you had a lovely time with your family.
ReplyDeletewowee those cushions are amazing! I definitely am putting them top of my list to make for my girls
ReplyDeleteoh bless little noah, I didn't get to see his glasses but they are so adorable! he is as cute as a button!

Oh little Noah is even more adorable in his cute glasses. It is all in the genes Janet. Your daughter has obviously inherited your talent. I shall look forward to seeing more in the future - it is sure to be good.

Noah is sure a cutie! Isn't it great to be a Grandma? I love it. Jonah was almost named Noah - it was on their list of names.
ReplyDeleteOh, I love the painted needle holders. I have a couple of those - maybe I should paint them!
ReplyDeleteYour grandson is a super cutie!!! :) Love his fabulous sweater.
