I'm not fussed on the border fabric so will substitute that one.
I'll add fabric to the pile on the top left to make a gorgeous and colourful number I saw on Sarah's blog. The pattern I'm using is in the Material Obsession 2 book. I thought the Moda fabric on the top right would make some great pillowcases. The Fairy princess fabric will do for a giant cushion or as the centers to a little girl's lap quilt.
I'm confessing to my obsession with pouches here. I made the mini one yesterday, really I'm trying them all out to find the ultimate most useful pouch for me. You can see a couple of humbugs here.
These two are from A Passion for Patchwork by Lisa Bergene. This is the winner pattern for me, easy to make, handy, useful, holds quite a bit and love the feel of it. You can make them in any size.
This one is a tiny number, it will hold a thimble, thread and small scissors.
This one is the first pouch I ever made and holds quite a bit. It's a Bronwyn Hayes pattern from Red Brolly. I can't find a link but try google and you'll find shops that stock the patterns.
It's been an amazing week for mail, they know my name and box number at the Post office, It is a small town. MJ in Michigan sent me a big surprise, a magazine to enjoy and a couple of pamphlets from exhibitions she's been too as well as the neat card and check out the photo of the Susan McCord quilt. Yes I need to get back to that project! This will spur me on for sure, Thank you MJ for your thoughtful gift!
Wow...what a great week...stash enhancement, great mail...and such cute bags! I can't wait for Material Obsession 2 to be available here!!!
ReplyDeleteAaaaaa.... The Vine by Susan McCord is the most beautiful quilt, I adore it. :-)
ReplyDeleteYour pouch collection is so fun to see. I specially love your red work one. It's very cute!
Great little bags...all of them! You know I love those Kaffe's too!

Lucky you what a nice package of things from MJ.
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen some of those exhibit books, anything interesting????

ReplyDeleteI just love that little red pouch you made, I too have a bit of an obsession for pouches and zippered bags.
Love that you have topped up the stash even if you don't need it you do !
Janet
ReplyDeleteYou have made a reference for A Passion for Patchwork is that a blog?, I can't seem to get the link to work, maybe I am thinking it could be a book. I am keen to try out the pouches.
Thanks
lovely gifts Janet and beautiful fabrics.
ReplyDeleteOh...can't possibly had more to my bucket list! Now I see some adorable pouches...sigh.
ReplyDeleteTalk about wonderful mail!! Love all the projects you will be working on and the pouches are fantastic.
ReplyDeleteWOW that Material Obsession quilt is wonderful...I'm thinking I have to do a little research on that book. I just love all your little bags...another thing that I'm going to have to try making.
ReplyDeleteI have a question, when you make these little bags do you buy pre-quilted fabric or do you make your own or are they quilted at all?
Crispy
Lots of pretties. I, too, love zippy pouches. However, I'm still squeamish with zippers. I vow to try again with a pattern a friend suggested that makes zippers EASY. We shall see.
ReplyDeleteWooHoo - a great week, indeed!!! Love your pouches - I don't do pouches (I'm seriously bagophobic - LOL) Yours are delightful.
ReplyDeleteJanet, I'm so glad you enjoyed the surprise. You are so lucky to have the Material Obsession 2 book. I'll have to get it when it comes to the US. Have you been to the shop?
ReplyDeleteI love the bags you've made. I've never made one myself but won a Humbug bag at my guild and use it a lot.
Just found your blog. You have a lot of great things going on there. Will be back soon. Sølvi in Norway
ReplyDeleteHow long did it take to make those bags or have you just been really, really busy? I can't decide which is my favorite! They're all darling.
ReplyDeleteDid you ever post the link to the templates for your logo quilt? I missed it if you did.
What gorgeous bags...aren't Lisa Bergene's books fun? I love your fabrics for your stash too, gorgeous xo
ReplyDeleteThe fabrics are going to make great projects. The pouch bags look like the ones I had my students make for years (but made from Pack Cloth, outdoor/waterproof fabric). I called them "ditty bags". I think yours are much cuter.
ReplyDeleteThe pouches are great but I'm in love with the Bronwyn Hayes bag, probably because of the redwork embroidery. I must try to find out more about her and her designs.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing, Janet. Now I want to make pouches...and bags...and...and... It never ends, does it? (wink)
What a great week! Love the fabrics you acquired! You have been busy and I cannot wait to see what you create
ReplyDeleteKris
Janet, I love your fabric choices~ and those quilts on Sarah's blog are gorgeous, aren't they?! The colors are just mesmerizing!
ReplyDeleteI finally was able to download the templates for Candied Hexagons today! Now I have to figure out how I am going to tackle it without a pattern, but your photos will be a wonderful help.
Thanks so much for helping me with this...your quilt is just stunning and I've been needing a good hand sewing project anyway!
Doris
These are all lovely bags. I haven't made any, trying not to join because they certainly do look addictive! It is always nice to get fun stuff in the mail.
ReplyDeleteGreat little pouches. Love the toile with the birds on it. How very nice of MJ.
ReplyDeleteI have gone crazy over patches tooo...
