The weather has been sunny during the day but cold at night so the crocheted ripply blanket has come out to keep us warm. Oh so cosy! It's been good to put in a few hand quilted stitches this week.
Oh it's been a good week for a bit of everything and as you know, I love to have a lot of projects on the go and it's been just how I like it.
Make a basket block a day. It's growing!
Sew on yo yo's and aim for a row a week.
Sew on yo yo's and aim for a row a week.
Maybe a couple of blocks now and again for a sampler.
A few intensive days of "age is no barrier" colouring in and drawing. Quilt related of course.
Oh yes, I'm in cahoots with a blogger friend to go down the red and green path again.
I've never worked in solids exclusively before but these are exciting me.
I must tell you about these two products I wouldn't be without. The tape for under rulers and templates that bloggers have cottoned on to. It works marvelously.
The Dylon product has been a godsend after I washed a red and green quilt and one of the pink fabrics bled (a lot) all over the white background. I tried Synthrapol to no avail and then this product. I won't be without it now, it worked and saved a quilt. Now we also are able to get the dye catcher sheets so when I wash a quilt, these two things go in the machine with it. For the Aussies, I bought mine at Spotlight.
beautiful work. Loving the yo-yo blocks. Can't wait to see the red & green project.
ReplyDeleteGreat now I can check out spotlight here in NZ to see if they have any colour run preventer - oh and then there is those sheets you pop in the wash which I have not been able to find...yet. I like your colouring in not as shocking as the kids 'wall art'. Can't wait to see what it turns in to.
ReplyDeleteLove those yo yo blocks and oh my gosh look at all thsoe baskets you have done!

I love the crocheted ripply blanket! As I'm reading quilt blogs so many people are crocheting right now, especially Granny Squares. I haven't seen those since the 1960's. Normally I haven't been a fan of crocheted blankets, but yours calls to me!
ReplyDeleteI'm see a wee bit of Kathie on this blog today. :-) Lovely show and share and great tip!!
ReplyDeleteOh My! You have been very busy! And what lovely blocks you have going.
ReplyDeleteI love the crocheted blanket too. My grandmother made each of her grandkids one when they got married. I love mine!
I can't wait to see what is down the red and green path :0) Your handquilting is inspiring! Lovely work this week.
ReplyDeleteoooh... a busy week indeed!
ReplyDeleteI dont buy dye catches.. I use old towels! you throw an old towel in with anything and it grabs colour.. I used to use old nappies but they are long gone now (my youngest is 12 next week)... but I'll be sure to look for the dylon product.. our spotlight is undergoing a HUGE renovation, so its a bit chaotic at the moment..
I am loving your yoyo project.. and I do have a ripple blanket on my one day list.. I have just rediscovered crochet and I am enjoying it!
I love, love, love the yo-yo blocks...are you using a pattern...how big are the blocks and the yo-yo's...they are so cute!
